![]() ![]() He doesn’t run the city, but he guides it and keeps its streets safe. Vimes is a duke in the city of Ankh-Morpork and is also the commander of the city watch. What makes it all worse is that somehow Hollywood is able to create a believable Dune movie with Batista and Zendeya in it, yet, the director of this flaming pile of excrement couldn't get this remotely entertaining with truly talented actors. Night Watch, by Terry Pratchett, is a fictitious book that revolves around His Grace Commander Samuel Vimes. Attempting a cyberpunk vibe in a world where the development of technology was impaired by the easy and free use of magic is as ridiculous as a motorcycle riding velociraptor. Vimes tries to get into the University to fix the screwup, but it’s past curfew and he’s brought in by three Watchmen after trying to take them to task for policing wrong. And more importantly this doesn't even feel like Discworld. The Watch is absolutely NOT The Night Watch. ![]() I was shocked by the absence of structure and plot given to the WoT series, but, this one couldn't even get me through the first scene without canceling my subscription to amc immediately and opening up a rotten Tomatoes account to flame this show to the best of my ability. In the race against Carcer for the second mystical artifact, Cheery, Angua and Carrot venture into the Mines of Tak Cheery must confront the darkness in her past Vimes. But what really got me was the fact that the only thing that made the characters close to the book characters, was their names. I think the costume design alone was enough to make this show unbearable. Night Watch is the twenty-ninth novel in the comic fantasy Discworld series, written by Terry Pratchett, and the sixth to focus on the character of Sam Vimes.
